A Bit About Me
I’ve never been very good at doing one thing. I think it came from my upbringing. Well-roundedness was a family value, and it was ingrained in me from an early age. It really paid off at a liberal arts school like Davidson College, but when it came to figuring out the one thing to do with my life, let’s just say: it has been a challenge. At the same time, my daggum curiosity has resulted in offering me a wealth of experiences (much of it earned the hard way).

One thing that has remained consistent is a love for people and a passion to see them thrive. This led me to work in the nonprofit world as Area Director of Young Life Forsyth County, the Founder of the Winston-Salem Fellows Program, and Vice President of I-55 Associates, a non-profit consulting firm in Denver, CO. More recently, I’ve worked as the Director of Community Impact at Piedmont Federal Bank, the Director of Business Development for CITYWS cyber security, and part-owner of Lot 63 a coffee shop, bakery, and taproom in Old Salem.

I am also the author of four books, including a memoir, "Falling Into Love," the novel, "Clay," as well as two nonfiction books, "Get This," and "The Reason." I serve on numerous boards and play a role in a variety of community initiatives.

I hold certifications in the HAB and the EQi. I am an ordained pastor, a candidate in the Order of the Mustard Seed, and founder of the GOYBADS. I am married and have two children. In my free time, I am an avid runner, outdoorsman, pickleball and tennis player. In 2015, I set the record for running the North Carolina section of the Blue Ridge Parkway, 252 miles in 4 days 8 hours 38 min, then put myself in the hospital.
